1 Year Limited Warranty

Chronicle Custom Woodworks warrants, to the original purchaser of materials, stairs, and railings, that the product shall be free from defects in material and workmanship including milling, assembly, dimension, and grading. The warranty period shall commence on the date of delivery. Should the product fail to conform to this warranty within the warranty period, Chronicle Custom Woodworks will, at its option, (i) repair the product, (ii) replace the product in its original state of purchase, or (iii) refund the price originally paid to Chronicle Custom Woodworks for the product.

Please note that:

  • Colour variation in wood is a natural occurrence due to species, age, character, region of origin, UV exposure, etc. New and/or replacement products may not match samples or existing wood products. Colour variation in finish/stain due to wood variation is not considered a defect.

  • Due to colour variation of product and/or samples, Chronicle Custom Woodworks is not responsible for the consumer matching stairs/railings to other wood products such as cabinets, floors, trim, etc.

  • Natural occurrences in wood characteristics such as variations in grain, colour, mineral streaks, knots, and minor checking are not considered defects.

  • Normal exposure to sunlight will bring about changes in shading of any hardwood as it ages. Floor coverings, rugs, or furniture which blocks sunlight may give the appearance of discoloration. This is not a defect.

  • Damage due to water and/or excessive moisture including but not limited to damage resulting from broken pipes, wet mopping, industrial or abrasive cleaners, seasonal weather conditions or natural disasters is excluded from the warranty.

  • When the contract is for supply only, this warranty covers the cost of the replacement of products but will not cover the cost of removal, transport, finishing not done by Chronicle Custom Woodworks, or installation.

Hardwood will continue to expand and contract through heating and non-heating seasons. More important, your interior environmental controls which continually provide stable temperature and relative humidity has an impact greater than seasons. Chronicle Custom Woodworks does not warrant against the expansion and contraction of product or damage caused by low or excessive humidity. Please note it is the customers responsibility to ensure that adequate humidity levels are maintained in the home/location and that the wood is given adequate time to acclimate before installation or it will void the warranty. Failure to install the product promptly will void the warranty. While Chronicle Custom Woodworks recommends humidity levels be kept around 35%, stable and consistent humidity levels are more important than which humidity level is chosen. Humidity levels below 25% will likely result in hardwood failure and product will not be warranted in such an environment. Never install hardwood products while wet trades are present on site or when large humidity changes may occur.

This Warranty Does Not Cover:

Installer/Owner Responsibility

Hardwood is a natural product and may therefore contain features that may not be considered perfect by all people.

  • The installer/owner assumes all responsibility for final inspection as to grade and manufacture. This inspection must be done before installation or finishing. Carefully examine hardwood products for colour, finish, and quality before installing or applying finish. Chronicle Custom Woodworks assumes no responsibility for stain or finish quality for items shipped without stain. All products must be final sanded. If the product is in question do not install, cut, or otherwise modify the product.

  • Prior to installation, the installer/owner must determine that the job-site environment is adequate for the installation of the hardwood components. Recommendations of the construction and materials industries and local codes must be followed. Chronicle Custom Woodworks is not responsible for damage caused by excessively humid conditions or lack of job-site readiness.

  • Use of plugs, stain, filler, or putty for touch-up during installation should be accepted as normal procedure.

  • Chronicle Custom Woodworks assumes no responsibility for the condition, preservation, or protection of finished product that is installed or left on site at the customer request. Unless otherwise stated in the contract, it is the client’s responsibility to ensure that adequate protection is afforded to installed components during construction.
